Founded in December 2015, Hapa Space Innovation Hub in Kumasi, Ghana, empowers aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly in the tech sector, by providing a vibrant community where ideas can flourish and businesses can grow. The hub offers co-working spaces, an incubation program for early-stage startups, and an acceleration program for established startups, along with extensive business support services, training, and networking opportunities. Hapa Space’s mission is to catalyze the growth of tech-enabled startups and foster skill development among Kumasi’s youth, aiming to create a sustainable ecosystem that supports startups and contributes to the region’s economic and technological advancement.

Hapa Space actively engages in community initiatives, believing that fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship can lead to broader societal benefits. The hub organizes workshops and training programs open to the community, covering topics from basic entrepreneurship skills to advanced technology training. Collaborations with local businesses, schools, and organizations address specific community needs, such as Code4Girls, Code4Kids, and Digital Marketing for Market Women. The hub supports startups developing technology solutions for social issues and runs community development initiatives like the SmartWoman project, which helps women in farming and dressmaking leverage technology to scale their businesses.

Strong partnerships with educational institutions, local businesses, and international organizations enable Hapa Space to offer a rich range of services and opportunities. Collaborations with KNUST, Kumasi Technical University, and being part of the AfriLabs network of over 400 innovation hubs across Africa enhance the hub’s reach and impact. Hapa Space also manages projects funded by the EU, GIZ, and the British Council, contributing to its mission of nurturing a thriving ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in Kumasi.
