Octavia Carbon is the Global South’s first company that designs, builds, and will deploy machines that filter carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air based on Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology in Kenya.
With our partners at Cella, we are currently designing and building capacity for our pilot DAC + Storage plant, Project Hummingbird, which can capture and permanently store CO2 underground along Kenya’s Rift Valley. The project will capture and store 1000t of CO2 in a year (1,000tCO2/yr) and 10,000 tones across the project’s lifetime.
We have specifically tailored our machines and processes to leverage on Kenya’s natural endowments i.e., abundant renewable energy and geology and talent. By doing so, we effectively bring DAC down the cost curve, allowing us to price our carbon credits at competitive prices (that are bound to decrease in the near future). What’s more, we are favourably positioned in the market as the demand for quality credits such as ours massively outweighs the supply.
