With MED’INNOVANT AFRICA, increase your market share towards Europe by establishing yourself in the second-largest city in France: Aix-Marseille Provence.

Faced with crises as well as economic and environmental challenges, resilience innovations and sustainable solutions must more than ever be supported to jointly respond to the challenges of development and planning of territory capable of overcoming shocks.

Created by the EPA Euromediterranean MED’INNOVANT AFRICA is a competition of innovative solutions for the city of tomorrow which allows us to accelerate the projects of African startups, on issues linked to the development of sustainable and resilient Mediterranean and African cities.

The goal is :

• to detect “African nuggets” capable of testing their innovative solutions, if necessary, on the Euroméditerranée Ecocity;
• to install these startups within the scope of intervention of the developer with the aim of increasing their market share towards Europe;
• to attract VSEs, SMEs as well as French and European groups wishing to develop in Africa.

Africa is today a major emerging market. Technological innovation is developing there exponentially, stimulating the deployment of new uses and the creation of start-ups.

Only legal persons whose head office is located in Africa can apply as well as legal persons (startups, SMEs) which are incubated in France but whose head office is located in Africa.

The competition is open continuously from July 1 at 8 a.m. to August 31, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. (UTC + 1)

1 JUL. 2020: Launch of the call for applications from 8:00 UTC + 1

AUGUST 31, 2020: Closure of the call for applications at 23:59 UTC + 1

Selection process in 4 phases:

From 1 to 18 SEPT. 2020: Preselection of 15 to 20 applications

From 22 to 24 SEPT. 2020: Selection of a shortlist of 4 to 5 finalists

Applicants will receive by email on September 25, 2020 at the latest, a letter inviting them to participate in the 3rd edition of the international summit EMERGING VALLEY which will bring together, on December 7 and 8, 2020 in Marseille at the Palais du Pharo, leaders of African Tech, investors, African and global innovation experts. It is in this context that the finalists’ PITCHES will take place and the awards ceremony for the two winners.

The contest organizer grants compensation for transport costs to the finalists and pays 2 hotel nights.
