Sometimes you just need a little help.
Yes you can. We encourage members and community partners to contribute to the blog. Please contact the content team at VC4Africa and we can coordinate publishing.
Mentors are experienced entrepreneurs, investors and business experts who are willing to share their knowledge free of charge. Entrepreneurs who have registered a venture with VC4Africa have the ability to submit a request for mentorship support. These requests are screened by the team at VC4Africa before they are presented to the participating mentors. It’s a free program and you might just score the expert you need!
Second to networking online, VC4Africa members can step forward to organise offline VC4Africa meetups. These are informal affairs where members of the community come together to exchange ideas and grow their personal network. Check if there are upcoming meetups planned in your area or take the initiative and host your own!

Click ‘Get new password’ to activate. You will receive an e-mail needed to access your account again. Don’t see the e-mail? Make sure to check your spam folders.
We ask you to upload a photo because we want to keep VC4A personal and friendly. Show fellow members who you are and what you look like.
We love badges. In fact, everyone and everything should have a badge. Do you have an idea for a cool badge? Let us know and we might just make it!
Badges are rewards that members can earn for their contributions to the VC4A community. You can start earning badges right away by completing activities such as joining groups, updating your profile and so on. Other badges are earned for posting a top-ranking venture, scouting promising entrepreneurs and by joining programmes of our partners. Keep an eye on the badges that others have earned to quickly learn about their accomplishments. See vc4a.com/badges> for all badges.
The team at VC4A screens each new member application. We process new applications on a rolling basis 24 hours a day. If you haven’t heard back within a day, please contact us at [email protected]

The answer is Yes! Entrepreneurs are often working on multiple projects. Sometimes the work you spent building one venture ends up being the preparation for the next. Feel free to post multiple ventures.
Easy, just visit the ventures section of the website and click ‘Start your own Venture.’ You don’t have to answer all of the questions at once and feel free to come back multiple times before submitting the profile for review. You can find your draft venture in the right hand column on your personal profile page.
The venture profile is published immediately! However, the team at VC4A screens each venture profile after it is published to the website.
Visit your personal profile page. In the right hand column you will see your venture in draft mode. Click the link ‘Edit’ to access your venture and start working again.
Investors are looking for evidence when trying to decide why they should or should not engage an entrepreneur. Nothing sends a stronger signal than already having an investor on board. This shows that someone believes in you enough to trust you with their money. But a lead investor is more than that. It is also someone who has researched your business in detail and is a valuable source of information for others who are interested in your venture.
A lead investor can help others understand where the business is in its development and can play an important role in negotiating terms and working to close the deal. Find out more by reading the 4 steps to fundraising!
Entrepreneurs who have registered a venture with VC4A have the ability to register a fundraising request. You will find the registration form in the right hand column on your venture profile. But before you register, check out the 4 steps to fundraising on VC4A.
Accredited investor is a term defined by various countries’ securities laws that delineates investors permitted to invest in certain types of higher risk investments including seed money, limited partnerships, hedge funds, private placements, and angel investor networks. The term generally includes wealthy individuals and organizations such as banks, insurance companies, significant charities, some corporations, endowments, and retirement plans.
For example, in the United States, for an individual to be considered an accredited investor, he or she must have a net worth of at least one million US dollars, not including the value of one’s primary residence or have income at least $200,000 each year for the last two years (or $300,000 together with his or her spouse if married) and have the expectation to make the same amount this year.
Investors can see which ventures are fundraising and follow the progress of the ventures they find interesting. They can network with fellow members of the investor network and engage entrepreneurs with questions. Registered investors can see who is fundraising, review the terms of the deal, and have exclusive access to private venture documents.
The ventures on VC4A are early stage and require investments between USD $10,000 and USD $1 million. The primary sectors include innovative technology, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, healthcare and education amongst others. Each venture is disruptive in their use of technology or in their application of a disruptive business model. Thirty percent of the registered ventures have some form of social mission and could be qualified as a social enterprise.

VC4A is a champion for more entrepreneurship in Africa. We believe entrepreneurship is good for society and that more should be done to support entrepreneurs working so hard to build up the continent. VC4A is a social venture and our mission is to help people in a way that is financially sustainable for the organization over time. Our absolutely last intention is that somehow, somewhere, someone gets hurt in some way.
So we want to make this clear. Our team is comprised mostly of geeks, entrepreneurs and disillusioned idealists:) We are not financial, investment, accounting or legal experts and we do not pretend to be. We seek to provide the VC4A community with information and networking opportunities. Our aim is to foster a healthy/constructive dialogue that further promotes entrepreneurship development on the continent.
Anything business related (or other) is done at your own risk and we highly recommend you get a lawyer or contact experts for these matters. If you are an entrepreneur approached by an investor you are responsible for conducting your own due diligence. If you are an investor approached by an entrepreneur you are responsible for conducting your own due diligence. If you are matched to another member via the VC4A team you are responsible for your own due diligence. Bottom line, we are not liable for any outcome in whatever form. Before doing anything business related know that only you are responsible.
VC4A does not provide personal investment, financial or legal advice to individuals, or act as personal financial, legal, or institutional investment advisor, or individually advocate the purchase or sale of any security or investment, or the use of any particular financial or legal strategy.
Each member of this community is responsible for their own risk assessment before acting upon any information provided via VC4A or any one of her members or visitors or other. Before pursuing any legal or financial strategy, or taking any decision at all, you should consult with your legal or financial advisor or CPA. VC4A (and anything related to VC4A) does not take responsibility for any single member, piece of content or any other object, person or action.

No. The Partner Pages are based on ‘parent-child’ relation. You cannot create a child (program, event or competition page) without having a parent (organization page).
If you use the organization page to publish information about your program, it will not be shown in the “Open and Upcoming Programs” section and it will not be possible for users to find it searching by program type. This will negatively affect the visibility of your program on VC4Africa platform.
Yes, you need to create a personal account on VC4Africa platform first. Later on you will also be able to list yourself as the team member on your organization page.

The VC4A Partner Pages is a tool that allows third parties (VC4A registered users) to publish and administrate promo pages on VC4A platform and collect applications for their programs. Promo pages can be created for both organizations and programs, and can be used to engage with the VC4A community in an interactive way. Instead of having to rely on the VC4A team to promote partner activities, our partners now gain full control of their own accounts. We see this as the next step in our effort to make the community more accessible.
Who should register a promo page?
– Accelerators / Incubators / Co-working spaces;
– Angel Groups / VCs / Impact Funds;
– Innovation Hubs;
– Event & Competition Organizers;
– Corporations / Service Providers;
– Public Sector Initiatives.
Please contact us for advice if you feel that your organization is an important startup ecosystem player in Africa but doesn’t fall into any of these categories.
This is usually the case when the question is asking for a particular value type. Please read the question carefully and check if the answer field could be accepting specific value types only.
Example question: “Please provide your phone number”
This field might only accept number inputs. Therefore you cannot enter a “+”, instead, you can only enter numbers such as “0027…”
Other input fields may only accept URLs, e-mail addresses, dates, addresses or text”
To apply for any program, you need to create a user account on VC4A. Click here to do so.
When this is done, you can log in, go to the program page you wish to apply for and click on the “apply” button to start your application.
Some programs require for you to have a venture profile on VC4A too. If you don’t have a venture profile yet, click here, or go to your account and click on “add venture”.
Make sure you have filled in all the required input fields of the application. These are characterized by a red star. When you have done so, and you have agreed to the terms and conditions, you can submit your application by clicking the blue “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.
After you have submitted, you will receive a confirmation email.
First, check where the pitch deck has to be uploaded for this application.
- If it has to be uploaded on your venture profile
- Click here to visit your venture profile
- Scroll down to the “Seeking funding” section
- Select the “documents” tab and
- Click “Add a document” to upload your pitch deck.
- If it has to be uploaded within the applications form, make sure the file has the right format (usually PDF) and does not exceed the maximum file size of 10 MB. Now you can drag and drop the file into the upload field.
If you can’t find an application you have started in a previous session, please follow these steps:
- Make sure you are logged in with the same account as when you started your application. Often we find that users have multiple accounts, as they create one by entering email address and a password etc. and later use the social media sign-in button and thereby creating a second account. So please, first double-check if you are logged in to the right user account.
- Go to your user account and click on “My Applications” or follow this Link
Now you should see all your applications and can click on “view” and then on “edit” to keep working on it and submit as you wish.
