About the program

In Latin America there are conditions of health inequality, as well as food insecurity, energy and economic mobility. Also, several countries in the region are prone to face natural threats and other challenges brought about by climate change and natural disasters.

ADAPT: Innovation for a More Resilient Future in Latin America is an acceleration program for startups in the region where they will be able to continue developing projects on climate change, health and welfare and economic mobility. It is a matter of boosting the talent and vision of Latin American entrepreneurs in large solutions that have a positive impact on the region’s destiny.

Who can participate?

We are looking for startups in Latin America that are creating and expanding access to solutions in:

  • Disaster preparedness: related to the area of insuretech and recovery from natural disasters.
  • Health and wellbeing:   can include mental health, fitness and access to health care.
  • Financial health: related to funds emergency, day-to-day financial needs management, and financial preparation.
  • Economic, work and learning opportunities: can include new routes to technology-focused local jobs, as a means to drive future job development.

Selection criteria

Eligible enterprises must:

  • Be legally incorporated and have operations as a lucrative entity in at least one Latin American country, with a particular focus on recruiting from countries marked as priority by MetLife. (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico).
  • Having a market-based solution that aims to solve the challenges of economic resilience, preparedness for natural disasters and health in Latin America.
  • Having at least one full-time member of your team, based in Latin America.
  • Being in compliance with local tax and commercial law.
  • Having a “minimum viable product” (MVP), and having raised less than USD $1M in equity.
  • Having client or user validation (not limited to revenue, can be pilots successful, clients, users, or clients/strategic partners.

  • Connections: Create strong connections with other founders in the group.  
  • Training: Enter interactive sessions tailored to help companies identify goals and prepare them for the next round of capital (if applicable).
  • Council: Working together with an investment analyst in one-to-one training sessions to build a financial model, identifying economic units and using financial indicators.
  • Exposition: Participate in an event in person that will culminate in a forum with investors.
  • Peer selection: The two companies best qualified by their peers will receive a donation from MetLife Foundation of $20,000 U.S. dollars to help with their operations.
