Walk-in pharmacy patients requiring certain medication such antibiotics require a doctor’s script and are thus not able to be served in the pharmacy. This is a common feature, particularly in lower income areas. In the ‘traditional pharmacy model’ the pharmacist would have no option but to send the patient away to consult a doctor for a script, and in only a few of those cases would that patient return with their doctor prescription. Unfortunately, many times when this happens, the engagement between patient and pharmacist marks the end of the ‘pharmacy fulfilment journey’ with the patient forced to go untreated due to not having cash to pay the doctor’s consultation fees.
VideoMed was established to address this common challenge by providing an opportunity for that same patient to be directed to an in-pharmacy booth where they can have a quick, convenient, and affordable consultation and receive a prescription via a video-based consultation with a doctor.
