Kenya has the highest per capita milk consumption of 110 litres annually. Currently, 4 billion ltres of milk is produced annually from 5 million dairy cattle against the annual demand of 8 billion litres. To meet the shortfall, Kenya has to import milk from neighbouring countries. However, the demand for milk is projected to increase by 150% by 2050 when the population increases to 85 million people fro m 54 million people in 2021. To meet the shortfall and the projected demand, there is huge opportunity for plant-based milk such as soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, rice milk and blends. There is currently no local company producing plant-based milk and other dairy products. Our company has focused entirely on this new solution and we have developed 1st and 2nd prototypes for soy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, rice milk and blends.
