This innovation was created to foster a transition from a very unprofessional, informal and highly unregulated nanny services industry in Uganda. Childcare is a very sensitive job that requires only people who are professional, skilled and passionate about children because the devastating effects of child neglect, psychological torture, physical and sexual abuse can last for a lifetime and may damage the child forever.
Through this initiative, less advantaged women will be recruited, selected and trained to offer quality and reliable in home childcare services as nannies. These will be placed in middle-class homes on a contract basis with ongoing supervision.
