Spota Company processes the sweet potatoes into flour for porridge, flour for baking and crisps and this flour produced from sweet potato contains natural sugar (because the sweet potato contains natural sugar in itself), so the porridge flour from sweet potato can be prepared without adding the industrial sugar and bakery flour made from sweet potato is used to make bakery products with reduced consumption of industrial sugar.
Hence, the sweet potato based flour substitute the industrial sugar which is sometimes unuffordable and non-accessible to the market in Burundi. Thus, the three categories mentioned above (children below five years, pregnant and breastfeeding women do not lack nutrients for a better nutrition at a very low cost.
