The changing phases of transportation and increase in middle income population in Ghana has led to a corresponding increase in demand for diverse transport services. Ghana is is also a Sub-Saharan country that experiences over 3500 hours of sunlight annually and the best we can do with this natural resource is to dry our clothes and foods. In this regard, Solar Taxi leverages the energy of the sun to power the fleet of Electric Vehicles it has introduced into the Ghanaian transport industry.
These vehicles are assembled locally in Ghana with imported parts and also by a team of female engineers. The transport industry in Ghana is predominantly male centred and female engineers were specifically selected to change this narrative and also introduce them to the emerging technologies in the transport sector.
