After the substantial reduction in agricultural production in the South Kivu region, fishing activities in Lake Kivu remained and/or remain unavoidable in the diet and nutrition of more than 3 million populations.
In April 2022, we conducted an investigation into the root causes of the significant decline in fish catches in Lake Kivu in three basins of Lake Kivu, including the Bukavu Basin, the Ishungu Basin and the Kalehe Basin.
