In most African countries like Ghana, landlords do accept only a year or more rent advance payment from tenants. Unfortunately, tenants within the low-income bracket do not have enough cash on hand to pay such burdensome rent and hence resort to bank loans. The interest rate of these loans increase the cost of their rent by at least 40% yearly.
