One of the Major challenge in business of Honey and Beeswax production in Africa is that the buyers in the market mostly comprises of middlemen who have been accused of buying up the Honey at almost give away prices and sell at outrageous prices to consumer and retailers,small-scale honey producers encounters high production cost in theirs efforts to boost production but hardly get fair pricing of their products from the middlemen.

Kenya is the third important honey producers in Africa after Ethiopia and Tanzania as per the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA).Recent studies shows that there are over 143,343 Beekeepers in kenya owning about 2.6 million Hives.
