Raising Gabdho Foundation (RGF) is a social enterprise which aims to accelerate clean, accessible and sustainable energy uptake for vulnerable communities through innovations for products, approaches to behavioral change and benchmarking good practices. We also offer capacity building targeting women, youths and refugees.
Gabdho is a Somali word meaning a girl, and it represents the diversity of the communities we support or work with.
RGF was founded to strengthen women and girls’ resilience to energy poverty through creating employment for them across the value chain and encouraging them to engage in businesses that fights energy poverty as a means of livelihood.
We have worked with 156 youths and 450 women from (mostly vulnerable urban communities including urban refugees) to access income from engaging in eco-activities and directly employed 21 people. We have a cumulative impact of 2,076 tonnes of briquettes sold equivalent to 41,536 trees saved.
