Wheat yellow rust is a devastating disease causing yield loss of up to 100% across the globe depending on varieties, and plants growth stage the diseases occurs. So far efforts has been made to control the disease using conventional approaches such as cultural and chemical application methods which couldn’t overcome the problem as lasting solution. With this, searching and deployment of naturally existing resistance genes among breeding lines are found worthy significance. Hence, this PhD research project is intended to address the aforementioned wheat yellow rust problem through genetic diversity and genome wide association mapping (GWAM) of genotypes for resistance to yellow rust using the integrated use of morphological and SNP molecular markers.
