There has been a reported 900 metric tons on average in the amount of plastic waste discarded into environment in Zimbabwe daily. Unfortunately, only 4% is currently being recycled with the rest either being burned or thrown in the streets. This has led to flooding, pollution and diseases like cholera. Mibsy Outdoor is solving this problem by using the discarded plastic to manufacture plastic lumber for outdoor furniture. Plastic lumber is strong, durable, and resistant to rot, termites and harsh weather conditions. The outdoor furniture market is projected to be worth $31 billion by 2030 and with the trend of decorating outdoor living space and commercial places seeking to enhance customers’ outdoor experience, this is the best time to disrupt the market using a readily available raw material.
