markta.at is Austria’s first digital farmers’ market which connects small-scale regional food producers with people who are looking for sustainable high-quality organic and regional products. On markta’s community-based platform with last mile logistic solutions, producers are able to present themselves and their products individually, with markta organizing the entire value chain from farm to fork, including assortment, quality assurance, fulfillment, and a circular last-mile-logistic – whilst local producers earn up to 5x more than supplying supermarkets. On markta, consumers can explore the wide variety of local food their region has to offer, communicate with the people who grow and produce it and order the products online with a 48h delivery period and a just-in-time storage solution, with no food waste whatsoever. In 2020 we grew from less than €100k the year before to more than € 2,3M and proved our concept, that Alternative Food Systems can scale and become mainstream.
