Lean Heat Energising the World using Waste

Lean Heat is a product of Leanfot Ventures Waste, Recycling & Energy Division.
Before we started the company during the pandemic in 2020, we noticed that almost 9 out of 10 neighbours in the Kamwokya community mostly use charcoal as fuel and after using, there is always some waste dust which is dumped in a not so good way. The same for the charcoal vendors – they accumulate the waste but don’t know how to dump it.
Not only that, still during the pandemic, many could not afford charcoal as it had become expensive.
There is also high demand for wood fuel making people to cut down trees in the forested areas of Uganda. More than 45Mn total tree biomass is demand yet we need to protect forests and green life on land). More than 3.5Mn tons of vegetational waste is mainly used as fuel by cottage industries need about 20-50% of this total biomass (wood mostly). Recycling the waste into longer-burning, less smoke-emitting and environment-conserving briquettes was the easiest solution.
