Kuruwitu Conservation Welfare CBOKCW-CBO is a society of fishers, fish processors and traders who have come together to protect a 30Ha LMMA (locally known as a Tengefu), and share benefits from enhanced fish catches in surrounding waters and from eco-tourism. Despite legislation in 2007 that empowered community management of the marine resources, KCW-CBOs model is amongst the few success stories, and together with partner Oceans Alive Foundation (OAF), has been approached by local government to assist 17 other similar LMMAs to bring 200,000 ha under co-management. KCW-CBO/OAF now needs support to upscale the technology to neighbouring LMMAs.SectorsFish farming, Food productionLocationKenyaStageSign in to view detailsMarketsSign in to view detailsCustomer modelSign in to view detailsSupported byUN Food Systems Summit > Best Small Business: Good Food for AllContactSign in to view detailsSocial media
