Kilimo Fresh purchases fresh produces from smallholder farmers and distributes to customers in urban areas, leveraging its mobile technology to provide safe and quality food to customers in urban areas and increase income to smallholder farmers. The company enables buyers to order farm produces using its online platform, upon which the delivery is made the next day with a low-cost, better quality produces than informal markets can provide. In addressing the farmers’ problems of post-harvest losses, Kilimo Fresh combines both Cold Storage Technology and Mobile Technology to increase income to smallholder farmers in Tanzania, by aggregating fresh produce at fair prices then process to distribute to the local market, therefore, creating a sustainable and profitable business model.
