IShamba A mobile information service for farmers

iShamba is a mobile based farming information service platform. Since its inception in January 2015, iShamba has remained committed to sending accurate and timely farming information directly to farmers through their mobile phones. iShamba aims to improve farmers’ productivity, income, and in turn overall quality of life.

The services we offer are: 1)Agritips, weather and event-based information via Whatsapp, SMS and our call centre, (2) Budget Mkononi which is a webpage for personal budgeting (https://budgetmkononi.com/) to allow farmers to develop their own budgets based on what they are planning to do in their farming business, and (3) website and social media platforms with farming information.

Overall our goal is to support young East African farmers to adapt to changing weather patterns across key value chains, whilst increasing their yields, profits and improving livelihoods.
