Kiazi Mfalme Limited produces and sells certified seed potato in Kenya’s key potato-growing region — one of only a handful of KEPHIS-licensed operators in the country. Kenya’s certified seed penetration remains at just 5–10%, leaving most smallholder farmers dependent on recycled, disease-degraded planting material. The result: yields of 8–10 t/ha against a biological potential of 30–40 t/ha. Our edge is consistent, high-quality seed — certified, true-to-variety, and reliably available season after season. This is what smallholder farmers lack most, and what we deliver. Since 2023, we have built a proven production system, established customers including One Acre Fund, and hold a three-year MOU with the National Potato Council of Kenya. We operate under DEG develoPPP Ventures co-financing and are raising equity to scale production, launch an outgrower programme, and add cold storage infrastructure. Global South Holding GmbH (Munich) holds the Kenyan operations.
