TIMO is a ride sharing company that provide a mobile platform to connect drivers in their own personal vehicle with people looking for a fast, safe and convenient ride. We brought an existing innovation the market with an aim to go beyond functional and rational benefits to address inspiration and ambition. The premise is that there is 44 cars to 1000 Africans which demonstrate high demand for affordable transportation. To take for instance, South Africa has 278 digitally visible municipalities and only a third are served by either Bolt, Uber or In Driver. Our team did a customer survey in areas like Howick, Newcastle and Port Shepstone which are digitally visible but undeserved. Customers in these cities highlighted their pain points which include the fact that people find it hard to find cabs, cabs often charge them exorbitant prizes, there is anxiety of using illegal cabs, slow public transport.
