Team EcoHive Kenya is currently led by its founder, Peter Gitau, who brings together business administration, entrepreneurship, and a passion for climate-smart agriculture. The company was founded after experiencing the high cost barriers to commercial beekeeping firsthand, leading to the development of the Pay-As-You-Harvest (PAYH) model and durable recycled HDPE beehives. As an early-stage startup, EcoHive is building a multidisciplinary team of experts in beekeeping, product design, agribusiness, manufacturing, finance, technology, and market development. We also work closely with experienced beekeepers, researchers, and strategic partners to validate our model and prepare for pilot implementation. Our team is united by a shared mission to make commercial beekeeping more accessible, increase smallholder incomes, strengthen climate resilience, and build a sustainable honey value chain across Kenya and Africa.
