EcoHive Kenya Pay-As-You-Harvest beekeeping for climate-smart smallholder farmers

EcoHive Kenya is an agritech and climate-tech startup making commercial beekeeping accessible through an innovative Pay-As-You-Harvest (PAYH) model.
We manufacture durable beehives from recycled HDPE plastic and deploy them to smallholder beekeepers without requiring high upfront investment. Instead of purchasing expensive equipment, farmers repay gradually through honey sales while receiving training, technical support, hive management, quality assurance, aggregation, and guaranteed market access.
Our solution addresses three major challenges:
High cost of starting commercial beekeeping.
Low productivity and limited market access for smallholder beekeepers.
Plastic waste pollution through circular manufacturing.
EcoHive creates value by increasing rural incomes, strengthening climate resilience through pollinator conservation, and building a reliable supply of high-quality honey for domestic and export markets.
