Compadre is a social enterprise that sells roasted coffee directly to end consumers, restaurants, coffee shops and offices. Our customers look for a high quality product and generate impact with their purchase.
Compadre started developing a machine that could toast coffee only with sunlight. They found a community in the jungle of Junin and installed a production plant that worked with solar panels so that the same farmers who harvested the coffee in the community could process the coffee to toast it and earn an extra payment as they were involved in more processes of the value chain.
Subsequently, the demand for product increased and because the solar technology had limited production capacity that did not reach to continue growing, they began to produce coffee in a conventional way. This allowed them to work with more farmers, turning the company’s priority towards economic impact, maintaining a quality and consistent product.
