BLACKSPEN is an offline and online community that helps African youth who are optimistic about the progress of Africa share Africa’s history and culture with the added advantage of users being able to share insights on why a given culture or practice being shared should be promoted, abolished or revisited. Unlike other social platforms, BLACKSPEN has its own history content which are being developed into byte sized 60s video animations. Through the offline model, we reach refugee camps, orphanages and communities in Africa where there is limited internet access to hear about Africa’s history and culture through story telling.
It’s been about a week since our pre launching and we currently have about 400 followings on Facebook. Our main target audience is university students across Africa with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as the initiation point. We are currently raising a n amount of USD$100,000 to help in running our campaigns on these university campuses.
