Badweyn Institute for Research and Development BIRD

Badweyn Institute for Research and Development (BIRD) was established in Jan 2020to undertake programs, projects, capacity building and researches in the field of Agriculture. The institute is equipped to provide technical assistance to its partners with sophisticated solutions. Many Somaliland business men and women started to invest in agriculture, particularly cash crops to cover daily market needs. However, there has been an overwhelming complaints about the knowledge of workers in their fields as well as soil fertility issues. BIRD team members (male and female) came up the use of latest soil testing technology called SoilCare to evaluate missing elements and suitability of certain soils to crops. This will address the issue of soil fertility. In addition, the team created a pool of experts and graduates in field of Agriculture to act as farm managers to our clients. Establishing this pool will reduce unemployment and will enhance agricultural development in the country.
