Established in 2005, Alwan wa Awtar (A&A) is a non-governmental organization based in Cairo, Egypt that offers artistic and non-formal educational activities to children and youth in different urban and rural community setting. Operating in Mokattam, Ezbet El Nasr and Kafr Hamza, we aim to enrich our beneficiaries’ social and cultural wellbeing as well as awaken them to their full potential as genuine, well-rounded individuals, who actively contribute in the development of themselves and their communities.
In our community-based safe and supportive learning spaces, we engage our beneficiaries in an array of artistic, cultural and educational activities. The use of visual and performing arts to enhance children’s creativity has been our principal learning activity since the inception of A&A, subsequently developing into the Arts Program.
