The accurate scientific analysis need of over 2000 Nigerian researchers, students, and SMEs are not currently satisfied, due to lack of good scientific equipments, standard reagents and technical staff in most publicly and privately owned labs. Hence, the increasing rate of academic tourism to Europe and North America for sample analysis. Also most foreign trained scientist especially those sponsored by TETFUND, PTDF are handicapped on return due to absence of modern facilities. Some take post-doctoral fellowship and migrate back to western nations thus continuing the brain drain, reduced technology transfer and community development. Also very painful memory is that during the recent Ebola crisis in Africa, one glaring factor that delayed onset of disease management and containment was the absence of standard diagnostic laboratory to identify the virus. This project will reduce the tourism, save lives, create jobs, save our forex and refurbish rural school labs.
