Problem : A lack of quality wine production empowered companies offering at consistent volumes at sustainable price points.
Solution : A predominantly Black owned, female run value chain focused wine company.
Point of difference and opportunity: The South African wine industry value chain is characterised by wholesales and marketers as lead firms, delivering wines to importers abroad and or retailers locally. These companies have been divesting from viticulture and wine making towards finished wine procurement however the need to deliver homogenous quality has grown. This has left a gap of opportunity for new players whose passions lie closer to the soil or primary agriculture. As an empowered businesses wholesalers and marketers are choosing to do business with Adama Wines, in part, due to the benefits of doing business with an empowered business (majority Black Owned) under the B-BBEE Act.
