UNLEASH is a global innovation laboratory for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The lab brings together talented young people to solve some of the most critical challenges in our world.
The first Hacks of UNLEASH were celebrated around the world in 2020 to develop solutions for the SDGs to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. In 2021, the Hacks were made in the different regions of the world to solve world problems. This year the UNLEASH Hacks are being led by 36 UNLEASH Ambassadors to develop solutions for their local communities.
One of them will take place in Ecuador on May 7 and 14, 2022 (GMT-5), and will focus on the development of alternatives for sustainable and responsible cities, emphasizing terrestrial ecosystems for the prevention of natural disasters.
Ecuador faces a great vulnerability to various natural disasters. Its geographical location, its diverse and fragile ecosystems, and the lack of human settlement planning, have created an untenable scenario for its major cities.
During the Hacks, participants will learn about building solutions through Unleash’s innovation methodology; where guided by facilitators trained by UNLEASH, they will create solutions that solve important challenges in their local communities.
The selected talent will have the opportunity to receive mentorship from guest experts and from the members of their community to ensure that the novel ideas are truly suitable for the most deprived.
We believe it is necessary to encourage young people with innovative ideas and collaborative spirit to participate in a two-day hackathon organized by Unleash Innovation Lab along with the Interactive Museum of Science and Catalysis Digital Magazine. Likewise, by the end of March we will share in social networks the complete list of collaborators and sponsors who will join this innovation space that will provide significant solutions for the cities of Ecuador.
