Seda Platinum Incubator

The seda Platinum Incubator (SPI) is South Africa’s first platinum beneficiation incubator for the design and manufacture of jewellery.

It is the only dedicated incubator for platinum group metals (PGMs) beneficiation in South Africa.

The SPI is located in Rustenburg, North West Province. Its primary aim is to facilitate skills transfer to, and ensure upliftment of historically disadvantaged South Africans through their involvement in platinum beneficiation activities, mainly Jewellery manufacturing. This will in turn help address the prevalent socio-economic challenges in the province.

The SPI is an initiative of the Platinum Trust of South Africa and is funded by the Seda Technology Programme (STP) – a division of the Department of Trade and Industry, with the support of the North West Provincial Government and the private sector.
