Urban Tech Accelerator

Accelerating the development of sustainable cities

The Urbantech program is a global accelerator program for startups within the urban tech space. Together with the partners of the program, startups will scale their businesses and further the development of sustainable cities.

The program will run through 2019-2021, admitting 10 startups in each cycle.

A WORLD CLASS ACCELERATOR

The Urbantech program is a world-class accelerator for high potential startups. Our goal is to contribute to further development of sustainable urban solutions. We want to bring the world’s best startups within the urban tech scope to Denmark and scale their businesses together with the program partners.

For 2019, we are looking for 10 startups and we are open for applications now.
  • Urbantech Accelerator
  • Urbantech Blox
  • Face-to-face engagement

The program is structured like a traditional accelerator with a 3-month onsite program, but unlike other accelerators, our end-goal is to create meaningful partnerships between startups and partners.

During the program, we will help you grow your startup and engage you with the partners of the program. After Demo Day, you will additionally have the opportunity to stick around for an extra 3 months.

WE DON’T TAKE EQUITY

This should be an enjoyable process for all parties, and we don’t want any barriers to keep you from joining the program. That’s why we don’t take any equity. Instead, we’ll give you €15.000 to join and to help you cover travel and living expenses while in Copenhagen.

All we require from your team is a commitment to the program and its partners. On top, we will offer several benefits, deals and free services.
  • Urbantech Accelerator equity
  • Bloxub
  • Be part of the urban tech hub

The program is hosted by BLOXHUB, which is part of the newly built, state-of-the-art building BLOX on the Copenhagen waterfront. BLOXHUB is an urban tech hub that brings companies, organizations and researchers together to co-create solutions for better cities. The program is powered by Rainmaking.

Key Focus Areas

We are looking for startups working within the following areas:

The Built Environment
With increased urbanization, cities are challenged to work towards a sustainable future with quality of life for all. We are looking for technology-driven and intelligent solutions for the built environment to increase efficiency and support sustainability.

Buildings, Inside & Out
Most of our lives are spent inside. This is where we live, work, learn and play. That’s why these built structures must help sustain a healthy and effortless way of life. We are interested in solutions where technology improves the time spent inside and around buildings.

Energy & Hyper Connectivity
Cities will continue to evolve with the way buildings and people connect in the future. However, the built environment creates many challenges for connecting efficiently. We are looking for technologies & services that enable the development of connected solutions.

Liveability
Urbanization and imposing climate changes require new collaborative models and community engagement. The digitally connected cities are challenged to find ways to enhance civic engagement and improve and retain a quality of life.

If your startup is solving an urban challenge outside of this scope, we still encourage you to apply.
