Skills have become increasingly important in this globalized world. Vocational and technical skills are essential, but employers are seeking applicants with more. They want employees who can continue to learn and adapt; read, write and compute competently; listen and communicate effectively; think creatively; solve problems independently; manage themselves at work; interact with co-workers; work in teams or groups; handle basic technology, lead effectively as well as follow supervision. These are the core employability skills that employers and recruiters are looking for in.
Recognizing the added hurdles that disadvantaged youths face in the labour market, innovative solutions have to be directed to improving access to quality education and job opportunities. These solutions improve the employability skills, ICT skills of participants and expose them to internships and permanent job placements.
