Fund the Gap Summit

sponsored by the United Nations

Fund the Gap Alliance is an Africa-wide dialogue aimed at addressing the systemic issue of underrepresentation and capital inflow into the African Tech Ecosystem for black founders. We are hosting “The Funding Gap” a hybrid summit; This summit will highlight this “GAP” that is of critical concern to African startups and fund managers.

The summit presents a platform to create strategic engagement and partnerships with relevant stakeholders on policy, legal and regulatory issues that will improve the ease of doing business in Africa.

The Summit

1. Defining an African start-up

In this panel, the panelists will attempt to define an ‘African’ startup. Is it enough to be focused on the African markets or must you have local African founders?

2. The trials of a local founder

This panel will feature local African founders, and they will tell the stories of their ventures, and the trials and tribulations they have faced with gaining traction, and raising money.

3. Investing in African founders

The data suggests that the best way to empower local founders with capital is to invest in local African investors. In this panel, prominent African investors will get to the root of the issue.

4. African start-up policies and regulations

Is the policy and regulatory landscape currently conducive to startup success? What are the barriers? This panel will bring together policy and regulatory experts to discuss the challenges and the solutions
