VC4A is proud to announce the launch of the second edition of the VC4A Venture Showcase LatAm, this being our inaugural Women Founder Edition in Latin America. The VC4A Venture Showcase has been recognised globally, having previously received the IFC ScaleX award and the World Bank’s ‘President’s Award for Excellence’. The program is designed to catalyze funding for early-stage, scalable companies in underserved markets. Set to launch on November 6, the 2023 edition aims to spotlight women-led startups in Latin America and the Caribbean who are looking to raise their Seed or Series A round of funding.
Investor-driven approach
The VC4A Venture Showcase differentiates itself with an ‘investor-driven approach.’ The program collaborates with Angel Investors, Venture Capital firms and development organizations to identify the most investment-ready Seed and Series A deals in Latin America. This approach is vital in nurturing and propelling the region’s most promising entrepreneurs forward.
Raising capital successfully
The primary objective of the VC4A Venture Showcase LatAm – Women Founder Edition is to put a spotlight on the region’s most promising entrepreneurs and provide them with the visibility, training and connections they need to raise capital successfully. Notably, alumni of the program have raised more than USD 800 million in funding, showcasing the program’s tremendous impact on the startup ecosystem in Latin America and Africa, where the program began in 2017.
Investor referrals and involvement
The program kicks off with an open call for applications for women-led startups in the region as well as sourcing for investor referrals. Participating investors play a critical role in the screening and scoring of companies and lead the interviews with shortlisted candidates. Selected companies are then invited to join the Venture Showcase, gaining access to technical sessions, 1-1 mentorship, visibility, and connections to leading LatAm-focused investors.
