Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help startups unlock new insights, create efficiencies, develop new revenue streams, and inspire new products to delight African customers.

As the AWS startup Africa team, we understand the importance of African startups participating, informing, influencing and innovating within these fields. We are collaborating with VC4A to connect African startups registered on the VC4A platform that have a core focus and interest in applying Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence within their business, service offering and early-stage products and innovations.

Join AWS Africa Startup Connect – Machine Learning & AI to network with peers and AWS experts, learn how to apply ML & AI techniques to drive innovation and impact for your startup outcomes, inform and influence the understanding of ML & AI in Africa. Participants will also be able to access support from the AWS Africa startup and ML & AI teams.

AWS offers the broadest and deepest set of machine learning services and supporting cloud infrastructure, putting machine learning in the hands of every developer, data scientist and expert practitioner. Named a leader in Gartner’s Cloud AI Developer services’ Magic Quadrant, AWS is helping tens of thousands of customers accelerate their machine learning journey.

This program is geared towards supporting startups as apposed to institutional R&D. Participating startups should be developing Machine learning or Artificial Intelligence business use cases, solving real problems and working to implement business solutions within their existing or new startup business. AWS support will be based on evaluation of each participant’s solution or service and may include specific support for AWS ML & AI services like SageMaker, Forecast, Personalize, Textract, Rekognition, ComprehendMedical, Translate, Lex, Polly, Transcribe, Comprehend, ElasticInference, Kendra and CodeGuru.

What we expect from you

Participating startups who already have a working MVP on AWS infrastructure, a market deployed product on AWS or those interested in migrating existing projects to AWS may qualify for the AWS migration program and AWS service credits.

Process

Startups are invited to join by completing the application form by 14 December (extended)
AWS startup team will connect to with you directly to complete on-boarding
Date & Time for the first AWS Africa ML & AI Connect session will be shared to members
Regular updates on 2021 events, trainings and opportunities will be shared to the community
