History
The Banking Association, the name under which ASOBAN is born into institutional life, is created on 22 May 1957, “for the purpose of solidarity and cooperation, in order to promote the development of banking businesses in the country, in order to achieve the objectives outlined in its statute”, as set out in its founding act. In this first meeting, the first Board of Directors was formed with Mr. Enrique Arellano, President, Rufo Miranda, Vice President, Hugo Zuazo, Secretary, and Oswaldo Siles and José Daniel del Castillo as Vocals. The recognition of the legal status of the Association, by means of a Supreme Resolution of No 75168, occurs on October 17, 1957. Eleven years later, on March 9, 1966, through Decree-Law No. 07546 the Association changed its name to the Association of Private Banks of Bolivia.
