My company Upeo Wireless Kenya, is developing a fixed wireless network to help rural communities get access to affordable high-quality internet with fixed IP SIM cards.
We compete in the growing Wireless Internet Service Provider market, which in Kenya is still fragmented as no provider offers a ubiquitous fixed wireless service throughout the country to satisfy the current or future bandwidth requirements. Last year alone the market was valued at an estimated $5.48 billion.
We are similar to Mawingu Networks and Safaricom but we offer differentiated internet plans that meet the needs of smallholder farmers and school-going youths.
Currently, we have a six-member team that is setting up the network and connecting some 20 families with basic internet.
We are looking for $500,000 in seed capital to help us build out the network, hire technical personnel, put in place a customer billing and support software.
