According to the Central Bank of Nigeria, financial inclusion and cashless policy as well as the recent development due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a need to digitize the banked of the unbanked since this is the informal banking system that the majority of adult-use in this part of the world.
We use the deposit information of small business owners during thrift collection (popularly known as AJO or ESUSU) to underwrite risk for this underserved population (that accounts for 65% of Nigeria’s GDP yet have no access to credit facilities) in other to give them access to credit to expand their business and bring them out of poverty.
