Bii Madagascar is a social enterprise that transforms food waste into economic, social and environmental opportunities. Every year, tons of fruit and vegetables are lost along the agricultural value chain, while thousands of families continue to face food insecurity and producers struggle to make the most of their produce. Through an innovative circular economy model, Bii recovers agricultural surpluses and downgraded produce, redistributes the still-consumable foodstuffs to vulnerable populations and transforms the remainder into high value-added food products such as dried fruit and vegetables, nutritional powders and dehydrated soups. Since its creation, Bii has already recovered over 43 tons of foodstuffs, distributed more than 172,000 meals, avoided 82 tons of CO₂ emissions, supported 3 women-led cooperatives and developed 20 innovative products.
