Sustainable Beekeeping and Human Development (SuBe Building Up Community Through Sustainable Beekeeping

Beekeeping is a climate-related business which positively contributes towards climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience. It facilitates realization of UN key areas (the three dimensions) of sustainability (Social, Economical and Environmental Development -SEED). Beekeeping is sustainable when the interactions between humans and bees maintain healthy populations of locally-adapted indigenous bees, living in the wild and in the apiaries of beekeepers, bringing benefits to people and to biodiversity.
At SB4DC, we therefore advocate sustainable beekeeping systems which are not input and capital intensive. We have an ambition to reach communities throughout Tanzania – we want to help people everywhere benefit from beekeeping and protect bees and their habitat. Provided the environmental is healthy, free from pollution and there are lots of flowers – then you can earn a lot from beekeeping in Tanzania.
