Retfarmer (Agricore) Precision Agriculture for smallholder farmers

RETFARMER is a social enterprise empowering smallholder farmers in the Ruzizi Plain (Burundi, DRC, Rwanda) through an AI-powered mobile app. The app identifies plant diseases and analyzes soil health from images, monitors forage crop health, provides localized weather forecasts, and includes a multilingual chatbot offering tailored farming advice. RETFARMER also operates RuziziMarket, a digital marketplace enabling farmers to sell their products and receive customer demand alerts via SMS. To reach even the most underserved, RETFARMER trains local farmer leaders (agrileads) who support and train their peers. By combining AI, local knowledge, and inclusive outreach, RETFARMER boosts productivity, climate resilience, and income.
