Pyrogen Energy is a waste-to-energy (WTE), waste heat recovery (WHR) and carbon projects developer based in Kenya. We have two verticals in the business:
1. We aim to develop projects that use waste biomass streams and produce biochar at scale using an industrial pyrolysis plant. This removes carbon dioxide and provides a sustainable soil additive for agricultural practices among farmers in Kenya/East Africa.
2. We are the agents for a WHR technology manufacturer called Turboden. They produce Organic Rankine Cycle generators that have the ability to take waste heat from industrial processes (including pyrolysis) and convert it to electricity.
Our project pipeline consists of the below:
1) Partnership with Neumann Kaffee Grüppe, the World’s largest coffee processor and trader, to convert their coffee husks to biochar.
2) Using the invasive tree species, Prosopis Juliflora, as a feedstock for biochar production in the semi-arid region of Baring, Kenya.
