PLAMIC is a microfluidic platform to produce nanomedicines. Nanomedicines are nanometric-scale vehicles that contain drugs inside. Its application is to reduce the side effects of medications, allow the increase of doses achieving more effective therapies, and provide the ideal format for personalized treatments. However, few dozens of nanomedicines worldwide have reached patients. This is because they are complex systems and highly dependent on the manufacturing process. To solve these problems, at PLAMIC we use microfluidics, a precision, fast and low-cost technology, different from the traditional methodology. We develop different microfluidic chips, where we can obtain hundreds of formulations in a short time, which allows us to select the optimal nanomedicine. At PLAMIC we develop a technology that allows reproducible nanomedicines of pharmaceutical quality and scalable production.
