Banana trees waste are often left to rot or burned by smallholder farmers who believe after harvest, they have no use. Leaving these wastes to rot produces methane gas and burning them releases Co2 into the atmosphere, so we buy them from smallholder farmers process them into fiber and then pulp to make sustainable menstrual pads for girls, shopping bags, earrings and necklaces. We have gone far to learn how to use these waste banana trees to start producing napkins, stationeries, fashion bags, fertiliser, wallet and other income-generating handicrafts. Taking these steps have created jobs in agriculture and manufacturing, and have offered sustainable solutions to the lack of access to menstrual pads, strengthen our climate action commitment and efforts to ensuring food security.
