Many fish farmer today still go through the old traditional way of waiting for the off-takers to patronize their farms, which most times the off-takers purchase the fish products at a ridiculously low price. Sometimes when the farmers decide to sell the products, the farm is products are not completely sold out causing the farmers to incur additional cost in sustaining the products until the next sale day. Another major challenge in the Nigerian fish market is that some consumers consider fresh catfish as too slimy, harmful and soft, which created an opportunity to add value to the product by drying, still the access of the dried product is still limited as there are few channels to sell the products.
