Nasaru Naturals Growing spirulina, the most ancient superfood, in the Rift Valley

Nasaru Naturals is a social enterprise who grows and sells spirulina powder, a nutrient-rich superfood, to nutraceutical brands in the US. Just a few grams gives you 10% DV of minerals (iron, magn., zinc), vitamins (A,B,E) and all amino acids. It has a positive impact on cholesterol, cancer, diabetes and has anti-aging properties.

Uniquely, we are the first in the world to grow spirulina in its natural environment in Kenya. Spirulina, an ancient cyanobacterium, thrives in Africa’s Rift Valley’s soda lakes where it originates. It naturally consumes CO₂ and sunlight, producing food through photosynthesis while extracting minerals from the water. However, despite natural advantages along the equator, current production is mostly in China and the USA on commercial farms. Our farm will be adjacent to where spirulina naturally occurs. After R&D testing, we were able to reduce our feed cost by around 60% compared to the lowest cost producers, enabling a healthy 40% gross margin. By ha
