MILPA reconciles rural development with climate action. Rural development is one of the main causes of biodiversity loss, ecosystem degradation and climate change in Colombia. Paradoxically, small rural communities bare thee brunt of climate change and, yet, they are the best equipped to fight it. They are our ecosystem custodians. However, in Colombia they have little to none aid to transition towards sustainable practices. With MILPA we want to close this gap. We are an online finance platform the connects investors with sustainable rural projects in Colombia. With MILPA, investors can invest in productive projects and/or preservation projects. In turn, investors receive interest from the proceeds of projects and carbon offsets from preservation. All projects are approved by Corporación PBA, our allies, with 20+ years experience in rural innovation in LATAM. They structure and execute all projects, hand in hand, with communities. With MILPA anyone can invest to save our planet.
